VALUES AND AIMS:

 

Our commitment is to tackle and mitigate some of the the world’s most vital issues by encouraging participants to come up with innovative biotech ideas which will address one of the following topical issues:

 
Global health and well-being
Climate change and sustainability

 

 

 

WORKSHOPS AND MENTORING:

The participants will be shortlisted and trained on how to materialise their project through multidisciplinary workshops which will involve business planning, marketing, finance management, intellectual property and more! 

 

They will also have the chance to attend personal mentoring sessions with experts in order to ask any questions and get guidance and feedback on how to prepare an outstanding pitch presentation.

Finally, the teams will pitch in front of a panel of industry experts to show why their idea is unique and
better than others. 

 

APPLICATION AND PRIZES:

If you are interested in how to build a start-up business from scratch and gain useful skills that can help you run a profitable project and make you more employable, this is your chance! 

The winners will win a cash prize of £600, the second placed team will win a cash prize of £300, and the third placed team will win a cash prize of £100.

'Build a Biotech' is a fictional start-up business idea competition organised by the North West Biotech Initiative in collaboration with the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre and the University of Manchester. The main aim of the competition is to encourage entrepreneurship within the academic community in the Biotech sector.
