April 2025: Build a Biotech Competition

With another month gone, we're back with a major update for April: our Build a Biotech Competition!

Finalists prepared presentations to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges on the competition day. This was followed by elevator pitches, where attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favourite pitches.

The competition was extremely tight, and our judges were especially impressed with everyone’s innovative ideas.

The NWBI team would like to thank the judges - Aline Miller, Graham Foxon, Andy Roberts and Sara Holland - and mentors - Dr Suneel Kunamaneni, Qasim Akhtar, Robert Phillips, Kirk Malone and Richard Maclennan - for their roles in this event, as well as our speakers Elliott Jennings, Michaela Novotna and Richard Unwin for their insightful talks — the successes of the seminar and competition finale are all thanks to you!

As this year comes to a close, our team would like to extend our gratitude to the 2024/25 NWBI team, who worked tirelessly to make this year a huge success for our initiative. With 600 attendees across all events this year, we could not have had a better turnout.

We'll see you all in the next academic term with a new team and another year of bridging the gap between industry and acadaemia!
