We're back with another recap - this time, focusing on the consulting case competition held in November of this year.

This year, the NWBI had 25 applicants to the consulting case competition and 8 finalists: with a 76% increase in applications compared with the 2023 competition, as well as a 40% increase in the turnout for the Consulting networking event compared with our last event (2022)!

Our finalists attended our competition's workshops, where they learned about their case and consulting, as well as having the opportunity to ask their mentors all the questions they had, providing them the opportunity to develop their skills in consulting. By the end of the month, finalists presented their solutions to a panel of judges at the networking and finals event, held at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB).

The judges were impressed with the quality of the finalist presentations, showcasing innovative ideas and outstanding research!

Winners:

🥇Patient Bridge Consulting

🥈Opti-Gals

🥉Elixara

Afterwards, our team held the networking event, which had a total of 105 attendees who enjoyed free pizza and drinks to celebrate the event’s success!

Our team would also like to extend our gratitude to this year's speakers, judges and mentors: Catherine Castillo, Nick Proctor, Louisa Oliver Byrne, Fatima C., Isabel Rubio, Poppy Payne and Thomas Jennison.

Our event’s successes would not have been possible without you!

Last but not least, a very special thank you to Megan, who has now stepped down as Co-Chair of the NWBI, for all of her hard work and commitment to the society in the course of her role, whilst also extending a warm welcome to Vika and Mujtaba - who will be working along Petr as Co-Chairs for this academic year!
