We're back with another recap - this time, focusing on the medical writing competition held in March.
This year’s competition was our biggest and best yet, bringing together an incredible community of aspiring medical writers.
Our webinar peaked at 108+ active participants, offering a deep dive into the world of medical writing—huge thanks to Alex Watson, Zsofia Wolkensdorfer, Oliver Wilkes, PhD, and Alex Pearson for leading such an insightful session!
📢 The Competition:
After the webinar, participants took on an exciting challenge - creating a slide deck and lay email explaining a clinical trial on Exagamglogene, an innovative gene therapy for sickle cell disease. The response was phenomenal:
✅ 40% increase in applicants year over year
✅ Unprecedented quality of submissions
The top eight applicants were invited to an in-person interview and masterclass—and we were blown away by their ability to navigate complex clinical trial data.
🏆 Congratulations to our winners! 🏆
Adam Hunt, Millie Harrison, Megan Taylor, and Arpi Kalantaryan—a huge achievement in such a competitive year!
💡 The Masterclass @ VML HQ:
A deep dive into real-world medical writing—analysing clinical trial data, distilling key messages, and thinking like a medical writer within ethical and regulatory frameworks. Thank you Alex Watson and Oliver Wilkes, PhD for leading such a fascinating session!
Afterwards, our team held the networking event, which had a total of 105 attendees who enjoyed free pizza and drinks to celebrate the event’s success!

Thank you to everyone that attended this year's Medical Writing Competition, see you all for our next recap session!
